Parcel 6A – Taunton, MA
As part of a more than $70 million project — made possible by a $22 million HOPE VI grant awarded to the Taunton Housing Authority in 2011 — there are 72 mixed-housing units under construction at a site behind the Bloom Bus terminal and the old mall in downtown Taunton. The site was a long contaminated brownfield site on Oak Street, simply known as Parcel 6A. The project also features 88 townhouse-style units at the former Fairfax Gardens housing development, which was flattened last year to make room for the new homes. The Parcel 6A site will contain 54 apartment units located in one three-story building, with one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. The rest of the units consist of 18 townhomes. The site plans also include raised garden beds, walking paths, a community room and a playground.
